Drum Camp, organised by Music Worldwide (who we worked with in 2024 on our Norwich School residency), is an annual gathering in a large Norfolk field of percussion minded festival goers, and 2026 saw it celebrate it’s 30th anniversary! It was an absolute honour to be asked to headline the opening night, where other percussionist also joined us onstage – including the amazing kanjira player Anantharaman Iyer and Middle-Eastern and Arabic percussion specialist Chas Whitaker.
With multiple workshops all day and performances at night, people learn, practice and refine their percussion skills with tutors from mainly India, South America, West Africa, North Africa and Ireland on all manner and styles of drums, from bodhrans to djembes, udu drums to darboukas.
With massive thanks to Bill Jackson for his help and to Gary Newland for everything!
