November 2024 saw us perform Orchestra of Samples at the Fisher Theatre in the small Suffolk market town of Bungay, not far from the Norfolk Broads.
Interestingly, we found out that French poet and writer Chateaubriand (who all French children learn about in school) lived in Bungay while in exile during the French Revolution; later returning to work for Napoleon! History lesson over…!
We also had the chance to work with Pete Sewell from the town’s Bungay Folk Festival, who hosted a talk and Q&A before the show and later joined us on stage playing fiddle alongside his partner Vicky Lambert on flute. Performing too were regular František Holčík on clarinet and EWI (Electronic Wind Instrument) and two wonderful local musicians who joined us, drummer and experimental sound artist Johann Don-Daniel (who included his Sri Lankan Thammattama drums) and instrumentalist Lizzie Wood who played various instruments including hang drum, banjo, ukelele and a small Bolivian Charango!
“a stunning night out… more of the same, please!”
